Over Average Tournaments
Official
Rules
1. General. By participating in the Vegas
Baby Pins over Average tournament (“POA”), entrants agree to be bound by these
Official Rules and by the decisions of Vegas Baby Bowling (“VBB”), which shall
be binding and final as to all matters related to POA. POA is subject to all
applicable federal, state, and local laws and is void where prohibited.
2. Eligibility.
1. You must be eighteen (18) years
of age or older and not a USBC Youth Bowler
2. You may have a prior, 2 years
Book Average from any league in the Fall/Winter or Summer season listed on
USBC's website (http://www.bowl.com) with at least 21 games
3. Have a 12-game average (EA) from
the current season.
4. Substitutes are not eligible for
POA tournaments
3. Previous
Seasons Book Average (BA)
1. If you have a BA from the
previous 2 years Fall/Winter or Summer season, then that is what we will use as
your BA. All BA’s are required to be with at least 21 games.
2. If you have multiple BA's from
multiple leagues, then VBB reserve the right to use the highest BA from the
previous 2 years Fall/Winter or Summer season.
3. If you do not have a BA from a
certified USBC league but you have a completed Vegas Baby Bowling season, then
we will use your highest 1 year VBB end of season average as your BA.
4. Average
used Tournament Average (TA)
1. We will use your current bowling
league average (CA)
or
2. If your BA is higher than the CA, then we
will use your BA (as defined above).
or
3. If no BA, then we will use your 12-game
average (EA) in the current season. If your EA is higher than your CA, we will use your EA for
the tournament.
4. All tournaments after the bowler has
accumulated 21 games, their 21-game average (21GA) will be considered for the
bowler’s TA.
5. All tournaments after the bowler has accumulated
42 games, their 42-game average (42GA) will be considered for the bowler’s TA.
6. The end of season bracket/sweepers tournament
will be the higher of your BA, EA, 21GA, 42GA or your CA.
Sandbagging
will not be tolerated during the league or participating in any of the
tournaments. If at any time the tournament director believes that an average is
misrepresented, the tournament director has the authority to rerate or
otherwise adjust a bowler’s average upwards, specifically for that tournament.
5. Prize. The winner of the Pins over Average
tournament will be a prize determined by VBB and announced prior to the start
of the tournament.
In the event of a Tie
A. If the prize for winning the tournament is a cash prize
a. If a cash award is given for
places (e.g. sweepers or standard places) the sum of the tied positions divided
by the number of people tied for that position will be issued.
b. If a cash award is not issued for
places, the top tying places will split the cash award evenly.
B. If the prize for winning the
tournament is a product (e.g. bowling ball, gift card) a one frame roll-off
will be conducted and continued, until a winner is determined.
6. Taxes. Each winner shall be responsible for any and all travel, costs, federal, state and local income
or excise taxes, fees, assessments and like charges associated with a prize.
7. Determining places in the
tournament. VBB will be responsible for calculating tournament
positions. Tournament positions will be determined by calculating your
cumulative pins over average (for series prizes) or single game pins over
average (individual game prize) based on your tournament average.
8. Scoring
errors. In the unlikely event that a scoring error has occurred,
bring the error to the attention of VBB as soon as possible and all efforts
will be made to correct the error prior to prize distribution. If the error is
reported after the prizes have been distributed, though we do apologize for the
unfortunate error, all prize distributions are final.
9. Prize
distribution. Cash prizes will be announced
and distributed no later than one (1) week following the POA tournament, with the exception of the end of season sweeper tournament
and end of season bracket championship tournament. Prizes awarded that are
products, allocations have to be made for ordering and
shipping of said product.
10. Transfer
of Tournament Prize.
A winner may transfer his/her prize to a third party provided that the
following conditions are met: (a) the transferee would have otherwise been
eligible to enter the POA tournament (age eighteen (18) or older); (b) the
transferee shall be responsible for all taxes and costs described in these
Official Rules; and (c) the transferee shall be bound by all terms and
conditions of these Official Rules that are applicable to the winner.
11. Judges.
POA tournaments
will be conducted and supervised by VBB, whose decisions are final. VBB
reserves the right to modify these Official Rules at any time. VBB reserves the
right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the POA tournament should
unauthorized human intervention or other causes corrupt the administration,
security, fairness, integrity or proper operation of the POA tournament.
12. Release
of Liability.
By entering into the POA tournament, all entrants agree to: (a) be bound by
these Official Rules; and (b) release VBB from any and all liability with
respect to any injury, damage or loss that may occur, directly or indirectly,
in whole or in part, from the participation in the POA tournament, or from any
travel or activity related to the receipt or use of any prize.
13. Publicity
Release. Each
winner, by accepting a prize, grants VBB and its designees and affiliates,
including the bowling alley, full permission, except where legally prohibited,
to use such winner’s name, address (city and state only), photograph, voice
and/or other likeness, and prize information for advertising, trade and
promotional purposes without further compensation and without notice, review or
approval, in all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide and in
perpetuity. Each winner shall execute all documents that VBB may require to be
signed in connection with this release.
14. Governing
Law. POA tournaments
and these Official Rules shall be subject to and governed by the laws of the
State of Arizona. If a court of competent jurisdiction finds that any provision
of these Official Rules, or their application to a particular
persons or circumstances, is invalid or unenforceable to any extent,
then the remainder of these Official Rules shall remain enforceable to the
fullest extent permitted by law. The venue for any cause of action arising out
of the POA tournament or these Official Rules shall be
located in Maricopa County, Arizona.
